And we are on to Week 5. What can I say about Week 5….what can’t I say about Week 5! Most noticeably, the volume of the dining room goes up! Not that it’s a bad thing, but it feels as if everyone is just that excited to see everyone else.
The adventure of this week, not surprisingly, was the Wednesday picnic. The group was scheduled to go to Cascade for the hike and picnic lunch. We had a nice bunch of people signed up, probably about 45 kids and adults. The day starts off as planned: Andrew is able to get the steaks cut in the morning, he gets the baskets packed up, the waitstaff get loaded up into the truck with all the baskets, and the car pool posse heads off up the hill.
As they get to the trailhead, they unpack the truck and then the platoon starts out. It’s still a little fuzzy on the details of what happened next…but about 10 people showed up at the picnic site and these 10 people had brought up the rear. Where did the other 35 people go?? As it turns out, they got the full tour around Cascade Lake! All 5.5 miles!
While some weren’t too thrilled about the excursion, they eventually came around to the fact that they got to see the water falls on the far side of the lake and the others did not.
All’s well, that ends well!
