A little business before we get started: Our annual letter went out at the beginning of this month. We have received many confirmations of guest reservations, but we want to remind you that the deadline is this coming Friday, January 25th. Please let us know as soon as possible if you are planning on keeping your reservation for this season or not. If you have any questions, give us a call or email! Now onto some news!
Winter came early this year! In November, we
had many days below freezing and had a few snow storms blow through.
The school even had a couple snow days, the first in three years! North
Bay froze over on November 24th and the main lake shortly after.
According to our records, the lake freezing over in November hasn’t
happened since 1967!!
On November 30th, firefighters responded to a call at Lake View Lodge, one of the great historic landmarks on the lake. By the time anyone was able to get to the scene, the 4-story building was totally engulfed in flames. It was a long night for the six fire departments who responded. Luckily, no one was hurt and only one other camp nearby was affected. However, the large yellow building with the red roof will no longer be part of the view from The Waldheim. The cause of the fire is unknown.
Last, but not least, Andrew and Keriann welcomed a little baby girl on December 14th! Harriet Frances Kaercher arrived at 7lb 14oz & 20 inches long. She looks a lot like her big sister, Addie! We are looking forward to introducing her to you this summer and fall!
To all of you who read our blog: stay warm out there and we’ll chat in a few!
